The Scottish Enlightenment
oh a band with a plan eh?
16.Nov.08
I’ve been thinking today about starting a podcast based around gigs in Scotland, and playing tunes by bands that will be playing in the week ahead. Its a good idea is it not? Don’t care what you think anyway, the point is I was thinking about gigs, which we haven’t done many of this year - although supporting Idlewild in may and De Rosa (much undervalued these days I think) in July (?) are two of our favourite ever gigs. Anyway, we’ve been talking about next year, peering past that big social-engagement-logjam that obliterates the last two weeks of December, and we see March-ish as the end of this album recording saga, which has been almost 12 months long already. Once its in the can, we’ll spend a couple of weeks nailing down our set, and then abandon rehearsals for the foreseeable and hit the road. Actually, that might be disingenuous. We wont be doing the touring thing. That would be hopelessly optimistic given our lack of fans (you’re special, or lost on the interweb). But we’ll be punting our wares every week, sticking to jockland, unless someone will pay our travel elsewhere. And i really cant wait for that. I get the feeling the others feel the same. We need to find a portable piano first though…
