Recent doings

Things have become rather ragged of late for The Scottish Enlightenment. We’ve not played together for a couple of months now, and our communication with you patient people has been a bit lacking. Our new website is still languishing under a secret url because it’s still not right, and the Scottish Enlightenment tea towels haven’t arrived yet.

But the music is doing fine. Hand in hand with Dan, we’re skipping down the last few miles of the great northern music highway, whistling final mixes and plopping a couple of final tracks into the puddles. We also now have a deadline, which has been imposed on the mixing process at a global economic level. Gogsy Broon tried, but could not save us. So on the 25th of this month (July, future cowboys) we’ll all be meeting up in Glasgow to listen to the album in its virgin entirety, and argue over minutiae until we agree or descend into a Scandinavian black metal style battle to the death.

The next thing to come from us, other than blogs, emails, and the ubiquitous social network wheat/chaff cocktail, will be three songs for you, for nothing. You should hear about that sometime in August. Sooner rather than later. I hope that they’ll sum up the album as a whole, but that’s maybe too much to ask of three songs.

After that, we should be playing some gigs around Scotland. Maybe further away if we can, but the cash would need to be there. Its all about the cash. Pat Cash.

And after the gigs start giggling, we’ll poop out the album. I don’t know when that will be. It depends on a lot of people, companies, machines and bank accounts. But we will be prepared to kill some of those people and bomb some of those companies to make sure it’s out before the end of the year. Hopefully multiple months prior.

So, hold onto this - next stop three songs for diddly. And may the rest be yours before the sun tires and begins its months of horizon peeking, and the snow falls and squeezes our soil lifeless, and the winds slice and chop at our faces with whipping blades of cold.

What wintery thoughts for July. As Hugh F-W says “Summer’s here! Lets eat slugs”.

Love and thanks,
The Scottish Enlightenment
